For this, we can now consider the minimal version is Qt6.5, so no need to try to be compatible with older versions. Maybe there are new solutions that have been implemented in Qt meanwhile

It will probably take about two days of work and I will script the video for it (maybe before 25/04). Since the video will be posted on a Chinese video site, I think it might be better to record it in Chinese. Also, I will insert Chinese and English subtitles.

Hi there. Sorry for the necro comment (just realized after posting!). I'm just currently trying to figure out how to contribute, and came across this, so I figure I'm in the target market (ie someone not currently contributing but looking to start). My background is in marketing/design/UX. I just wanted to share my personal experience with the current interaction path. I didn't manage to complete my desired goal, which was finding a good beginner task that would help Plasma Mobile, fit my skills and had someone who could help me get started.

1. We could patch it to add the to default PRIVATE, it may break all other framework builds though. So I would better suggest to turn OFF CMAKE_INCLUDE_CURRENT_DIR and CMAKE_INCLUDE_CURRENT_DIR_IN_INTERFACE to avoid the possible mess with the other packages depending on ecm.
2. Sounds like a good idea to do so.
3. Im not very in favor of monolithic libs, however since we are not developing library only package, it might be a point in favor of reducing the number of libraries.
4. Im not sure either, and I suspect the case of a lot of export from a subfolder is not very generalized. In any case Im not sure either if the includes would reduce by doing this.
5. We were never very vocal about it, neither in HACKING or Framework_Coding_Style. However I do think its a good approach.
6. True, let's keep things in their scope.

Some basic code has been done in https://invent.kde.org/education/gcompris/-/commit/ea01b681e31212fcd24720d09134c1e31bb15e4d. This is not promising like that: compilation time goes from a few seconds to minutes, rcc/plugins are not compatible.
Need to dig more/differently to be able to switch between rcc/plugins IF plugins are faster/less consuming and there is a good reason to switch
