@aniqakhokhar Can you help with this?
We have some dry basics here: https://ev.kde.org/getinvolved/supporting-members/
Decision: we'll move forward with 25 Euro per quarter or 100 per year for now.

- No. Custom amounts can only be set on common Campaigns, like the one that we have here: https://donorbox.org/kde-community
- I would like to have the board opinion on this. We may check the data from our ongoing campaign and check the average donation and start from it(lays check the gross data) -> The average donation is 30 Euro per donation. 10 euros is the average for the monthly donations and 60 euros for annual donations.

So I did a lot of digging (which is why this took so long).
Here is where we are: in 2014 we voted to have flexible membership fees. The wording is "Amount selected by the supporting member, at least 20 EUR per year". It seems this is by now contrary to what the board wants (flexible but at least 100 Euro a year or 30 Euro a quarter) but we voted on it.
That leaves 2 questions:
- Is it possible in donorbox to set a recommended donation amount, a minimum amount and a custom amount? The idea would be that we'd ask people to give 100 a year as recommended, 20 Euro as minimum or whatever else over 20 Euro they want to give.
- Do we go with what we voted on or do we reopen the vote? I'll bring that to the board call on Thursday.

We're focusing on moving everything to donorbox instead.

This is working on donorbox.
Since we are focusing on moving everything to donorbox I am closing this.
This is being done by Aniqa now.
We're moving everything to donorbox where this tracking is working as we need it to.
We are doing this now with donorbox. Remaining work will be tackled in dedicated tickets.

@ognarb We need two campaigns because of the bookkeeping of the board. What was though is that we will have one page pointing to both of the campaigns, one to be a member and one for the end of the year (that can be turned into one of always running campaign). We won't target two different Donorbox pages, we will target two Donorbox forms inside a page that we need to build.
We will have 2 campaigns: one for membership where we will only allow donations for the Annually option, and the other for the end of the year that can be a campaign with a deadline, or we can use this campaign for the ongoing donations.

After a quick meeting with @lydia today, these are the following updates:
Oct 28 2022
About regular/recurring donors: We do want to push people to become supporting members. This should be an explicit choice. We prefer this over someone being a regular donor but not a member. And we can not just count any regular donor as a member. Those are handled differently in accounting and they are also receiving different benefits.

Another stretch goal, often requested: Better documentation in the form of official guides and tutorials

Makes sense. I said that taking into account the intent people would have at the moment they click the ad. Usually people don't download the first thing they see on an ad. They research their options (become aware of Kdenlive features vs the competition), make a decision and then will want to download it. If the very first ad someone sees is something like "Download the Kdenlive video editor now" and points to a simple download page without any context (like the current Kdenlive's homepage, which only contains some pictures, news and a download button), it's not likely they'll download it. We would fail in making them aware of Kdenlive's features and they would also not download it just because the ad says so,
In T15717#278938, @paulb wrote:it's better to focus on the objective described in the task, which is to increase awareness. I would leave ads that aim to make users download Kdenlive for another campaign.
But if people discover and download and start using Kdenlive, and find they like it, they would probably be more likely donate, don't you think? It would be counterproductive to go out of our way to discourage downloads (or only seek visitors to the site). When I think of "discovering Kdenlive" I am thinking of actually getting it, using it, finding it useful, thus creating a user that would be willing to donate later on to ensure the project's survival.

Below, are my suggestions for keywords. Please note I don't have an active Ads account, so whoever is in charge of creating the campaign will need to research the keywords for how much they bid for, how many searches they get, how competitive they are, etc. I did add a few keywords I think are worth investigating.
