As we want to target vloggers/youtubers, maybe we should make a video too, right? Also it has become a customary thing have a video along with a fundraiser and we can embed it in the page too , and cut down on the stuff visitors have to read.

I would strongly recommend we make a video specifically for the campaign. We want it to be short and to the point. No more than a minute. preferably shorter, and it must be in an ad-like format. The main purpose of this videos is not to help people learn about Kdenlive, but that they give us money. That is the message: help us, give us money. With a couple of spectacular-looking clips of Kdenlive in action it should be enough.

Also, we must assume that anybody who is thinking of donating already has an idea of what the project is about. That job, explaining to potential donors what Kdenlive is, must be done in any case before the donation campaign starts. We will talked about ways of doing that yesterday: ads, getting our foot in the door with ASWF, general social media posting, talking to vloggers, etc.

• The mid-year dip is real and we are in the dip time of the year now. It will last for 3 or 4 months, so we should wait to launch at least until after the summer

It looks like even KDE got donations more at the end of the year or at the beginning of the new year.

Would it make sense to launch the campaign along with the release of 22.12 then and have it go for about a month or any other time frame?

Here an idea for the promotion video:

Make/bring your story alive – with Kdenlive

• See people gathering footage (outdoor?)
• See the people put the footage into Kdenlive
• Arrange the footage in the timeline (with ripple?)
• Put some comments in (using the record function in Kdenlive)
• Put some music on the timeline (using the online function in Kdenlive)
• Put effect on the clip
• Create subtitle
• Make some color correction
• Render the video out
• Present the video to your friends or on youtube

Showing the montage with the same 1 or 2 clips. These are 10 points a 4-5sec = 40-50ec video.

I like the GNOME-42 promo video. I think it would fit to that style.

Re corporate donors: Please coordinate anything in this direction with the board. This needs careful coordination for the ones that we are also in contact with for KDE in general.

To be able to develop graphical promotional material, we need footage and stills of:

• Shoots: lights, boom-people, crew in general, actors, make up artists, etc. doing their jobs, maybe maybe some brief comments to camera on site of the shoot
• Cutting rooms: editor(s) working on clips with Kdenlive
• Clips from the films themselves (with their authorisation for re-use)
• Premieres, audiences

Think something like what Ian Hubert did for Tears of Steel

Raw, unprocessed material is preferred, as we will be wanting to use it for several things, and if you add tags, titles, cuts, effects, etc., they may not fit in with the style of whatever we are doing

directory of the shared Kdenlive Promo folder on Collaborate.
