Sorry for some reason I didn't get an email for your previous comment...
I think for now we leave them out and I'll think some more about how we can get them in later.
Ping?

Problem solved going forward I guess, but what do we do about those who are already members?
Argh. I thought that was only available in Donorbox Pro. And of course we hadn't enabled it...
Thanks for digging this up. I've now enabled it for the membership campaign.
Hmm, I thought Donorbox had functionality to record that - https://donorbox.org/nonprofit-blog/ask-donor-subscribe-mailing-list?
I've sent merge requests for all our sites that are either:
a) Static; or
b) Built using a Static Site Generator
Are we able to get a CSV of people and their email addresses out of Donorbox that have ticked a box to receive quarterly updates?
What's the best page to link to instead? https://kde.org/community/donations/ probably
Do we have anyone who can help with this? We need to send the next quarterly email to the members soon and need some infrastructure to make this happen.
We have emailed the members on CiviCRM and asked them to sign up for Donorbox.

Following some feedback from users (and one YouTuber) who have had difficulty finding ways to customise their donations, I suggest some small changes that can solve these problems:

This one https://kde.org/fundraisers/yearend2022/ which we basically just want to copy past to kde.org/donate. I'll see if I can do that during the promo sprint this weekend
Done https://kde.org/community/donations/ :)
But there are probably some more additional improvements we can do

Hello all,
When we were discussing the use of Donorbox for Membership of KDE, we decided to use fundraising campaigns in donorbox because of the flexibility that we have. And we would have two campaigns, one fore ongoing donations and one for one - time donations.

The point of this particular fundraiser is to gain more memberships, which cost 100€ per year at the minimum. I woudn't be in favor of making donation methods that don't meet this threshold have equal prominence with the ones that do. I think what Paul mentioned is ideal: a visually de-emphasized link to make a one-time donation if you don't think you can manage a membership.
This is actually expensive. When using the membership feature, donorbox is taking twice as much money as fee, unless we have a pro account :( I asked in the fundraising chat if we are using the pro version

We tried in the past to add perks to the memberships and this didn't work out. It was a lot of work and money to coordinate everything. We want to be efficient with our money usage.
Aside from adding the name of the donnors in the plasma wizard and maybe also display the name on the donation page (similarly to that fund.blender.org does), I don't think we should do any perks.
> If you'd prefer a one-time donation, click here.We were asked to make adding memberships the main thing, and it is what I did. That said, I agree we could make it a bit more noticeable by putting it higher up in the text and make it a button or something.
I put the link just beneath the donation box.
Also I just checked but donnorbox support membership compaign, that we should probably use:
https://donorbox.org/membership-compaign
This allow to define a minimum unfortunately this only support monthly and annually recurrence and not quartely. But 10€/month is similar to 25€/quarterly
What would be a good idea is more suggestions for other perks to make memberships more attractive. I am all ears.
This sounds like a bad idea, a T-Shirt cost a lot (particularly shipping) and KDE e.V. is often covering some of the cost for people outside of the eu. This would eat a significant portion of their donation.
Is the fundraiser team okay with the perk of giving away Akademy t-shirts to supporting members at next year's Akademy?

Form would look like this:

As it stands, the form allows you to create donations of as low as €25 annually.

Thanks @lydia. As I thought.
It should be 25 a quarter or 100 a year minimum. If that's not the case we need to change it.
Question for fundraiser team:
Sep 15 2023
@ngraham says there would be no problem to include a list of members on a page in the Plasma start up wizard 🎉
It would be good to get some feedback from the fundraiser team on some of this. For example goals: is 100 new members a good number? What default donation for a month and year be?

We're going to need that page

@lydia and @aronkvh, we can use this campaign.

Or we could even look at incentivizing donating regularly by sending a printed “Thank You” note with a few stickers after large donations, although I imagine that'd be a logistical n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶m̶a̶r̶e̶ challenge.
The simplest change with no likely actual result could be changing the default selection on Donorbox to 'monthly'.

We could still have a goal associated with it like signing up X supporting members during the campaign.
Yes, @lydia . This sounds a good moment to do that. I can imagine how we can associate both "support Plasma 6" and "become a "supporting member" (even though we will have to give users the option of one-shot donations somewhere)

If help is needed with the page design, come to the vdg and we can help!
Sorry, my bad.
@ognarb would you take a run on this?
Aug 16 2023
I can help with the text, but not the design or code. I don't have any relevant web design skills.
@ngraham can you assist on this task?
Can we close this ticket as done?

Any one is probably fine. Arial is boring and non-controversial so that one gets my vote.
We have these fonts available:

But does the font have to be monospaced? I think a fixed-width font might look better there.

I think the latter only becomes a problem if we change the heading per your suggestion. If we talk about why someone should become a supporting member then the point seems ok enough. We want to sell people on it after all ;-)
Jun 14 2023
I think "Why should you become a Supporting Member?" could maybe be rephrased as "What's the difference between becoming a supporting member and making an ordinary recurring donation?" as the text in that section is already the answer to that question, and it's a question that people will have.
Some suggestions for the pictures. Maybe @paulb can suggest more pictures too.
Text for the Camapign page

They have to migrate themselves. But that's outside the scope of this ticket. What we need here is general content for the site that anyone will see encouraging them to sign up as a supporting member.
Can we migrate people that are already supporting members automatically? Or do they have to migrate themselves?
May 14 2023
Sure. Let's talk after Akademy's call
May 13 2023
Sure. Can we do it in a call right after or before the next Akademy call?
May 7 2023
Sure. Can you share more details so I can work on it?
Depends on what anonymous means there. We (as in the board) need to know the name of all members.
