figure out integration of one-off donation box and CiviCRM
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

We want to switch all on-off donations to CiciCRM so we have proper donation tracking. We need to figure out how to make this work with our one-off donation box.

I would propose to not do that, because of the following reasons:

  • The current donation buttons are working correctly
  • CiviCRM PayPal integration is now working as good as we want
  • Requiring one-off donators to create an account will probably decrease significantly the donations, because it will require more complicated for the user to set up (more clicks, more forms to fill out, more time spent on it, ...)
  • For GDPR, it's always a good idea to collect as little information as possible. For recurring donations, it makes sense to ask people to register, but for on-off donations, it doesn't.
  • Afaik we currently don't really use the more elaborate donations tracking from CiviCRM

I would agree with Carl on this. I think we should close this in leui of our effortts for the KDE 25th anniversary.

We have decided to keep this ticket open, but instead focus on making sure that data flows into civicrm

We're moving everything to donorbox where this tracking is working as we need it to.
