I think this is a good idea overall but I would like to point out that by switching to Calamares the minimal install option would be lost. I think a lot of people are fans of that feature so if it can be reimplemented in Calamares prior to official switch I think that would be a good idea.

@tsimonq2 is going to document, based on lubuntu's switch, what we would need to do. Once we have that then we can make an informed assessment on whether this can be targeted for 19.04.

Can easily make a test exfat volume to mount in virtualbox, so should be simple to test. Similar code to install samba via packagekit exists in kdenetwork-filesharing source, so this should be possible.

That's something we should do anyway. Can you file a bug on bugs.kde.org and preferably attach a screenshot depicting the current error message? I'm semi-familiar with the code in question and may be able to offer up a quick fix.

I vote for KPatience and KMahjong. They're two very good-looking games, proving that Linux games aren't pixellated messes from the 1980s. Plus, they're sort-of "classics", included in a lot of distros and even competing OSes like iOS and Windows. It would give Kubuntu a well-rounded feeling as a complete and user-friendly distro.

You also tend to formulate your words in an accusatory and inflammatory way that puts people on the defensive.

I intend no harm. Lower your shields :)

Then please stop accusing.

Another actionable path: purge all of Ubuntu's crash handlers from the iso. If users want them, they can apt install them. KDE strives for privacy software. Shouldn't Kubuntu as well?

As the release manager, I will not agree to this. Flawed apport might be, but it is *not* snoopware. In fact, I very much wish that Dr. Konqui would be expanded to allow kde-bug packagename as apport facilitates via ubuntu-bug packagename. This is entirely under the control of the user and make quality bug reporting easy.

Filing issues like this on phab without otherwise interacting with the Kubuntu team is counter-productive. We very much want increased interaction with our upstream KDE, which is why we have our Phab instance here. At least assign the issue to someone so that we can dialog. Just filing an issue without any interaction is like shouting into an empty room. Frustrating and exhausting for no purpose.
