I think having at least two workspaces will allow users to discover this awesome feature.

It's exactly what Cinnamon does.
Does that mean that Meta+pgUp will no longer maximize the current window?

BTW since this was filed, things changed a lot upstream, so you now do the following by default:
Aug 11 2020
As I mentioned in T10568 we need IMHO better discoverability not yet another global shortcut.

Given that it is a task relevant only to Kubuntu, I suggest to un-tag KWin to keep downstream things out of our workboard.
The action to toggle window borders is already implemented. It's called "Hide Window Border". However, no default shortcut is assigned to it.

Hi David. That is really a good news! Thx for working on this!

Nevertheless you have IMHO a valid point: hard discoverability. The global shortcut
settings page could be enhanced. Enhancing this would not only help others finding
you personal favourite feature(s) but all others too.Adding 'User Feedback' what global shortcuts people really set, could help in
future decision what action is probably a candidate for a global shortcut.stay healthy, Achim

FWIW I agree with David argument in the bug report and to reject the suggestion for 2 more global shortcuts.

- Screen Real Estate optimization.
- it saves vertical space especially on maximized windows that you are isolating anyway because its maximized
- it makes the quick tiling functions better because it allows for windows to use the space more effieciently.
- Its a nice feature for gamers because Fullscreen Gaming can sometimes be an issue for some games especially via Proton layers.
- Removing the border allows you to put a game in Windowed Mode and then maximize it for a Faux-Fullscreen experience so it performs as if it was in Windowed Mode but looks like fullscreen.
What's the use case for toggling the window decorations of the active window?
The function should be called "Hide/Show Window Borders" but it's called "No Borders" which is fairly awkward.
Ironically, if shortcuts are filtered for "hide" or "border", Hide Window border is the only option. I don't use meta+b so we use both meta+B and meta+H as primary and secondary.
Here is my follow up to why this should be done since this was denied for a silly reason (typical for KDE in my experience) [reason: 'what could be done' somewhere else]
I use meta+H to "hide" the borders.

I think having all of the backends turned on would make sense. Choice is a good thing to have. Without that, it would be something analogous to having Okular without anything besides PDF support.
They wouldn't even need to enable the Flathub repo like Neon did. Just having the backend installed by default would improve the out of box experience enormously. (You could then just go to flathub.org and click-to-install, no restart needed)

The effect is this, a small modification is enough. It has a higher contrast and to me personally it looks more elegant / beautiful.
What do you think?
Ok, lets give this a trial BEFORE we hit feature freeze.....

Where are the background color settings for the Kubuntu panel only?
Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
In fact, the change isn't worth the extra maintenance, because it's a slight improvement.
Maybe the change could be made upstream on breeze-dark?
Hi, and thank you for contributing. It is appreciated. :)

It doesn't seem like there's any interest in overriding these apps' behaviors in Kubuntu.
BTW Neon is shipping with the Snap and Flatpak backends (+Flathub) installed by default and it's worked out very well for them. Kubuntu might want to consider doing the same thing.
I guess not.
Let's just wait for the SimpleMenu rewrite+upstreaming (T12192) and go with upstream defaults instead.
This papercut bug should be reported to the Akregator developers on https://bugs.kde.org.
I guess we'll wait for upstream support.
The work should be done upstream.
I guess we didn't end up doing this.
All of this stuff works out of the box now.
I guess we didn't end up doing this.
Not needed anymore now that improved CSD support is native.
Looks like this was done upstream at some point: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/blob/develop/src/common/Configuration.h#L94

sadly desktop email has been a sore spot on Linux for a long time. I think Thunderbird is likely the best of the current options for Kubuntu to include.

Something to keep in mind is that shipping without any of the PIM apps lets us avoid shipping with Akonadi, avoiding a pain point and big source of memory usage. Might also free up space on the ISO.
Moving to Tbird would make our lives easier. Still, this makes me sad. Perhaps if the Kmail team fixes the gmail issue we can revisit after the LTS is out the door?
LOL. The logical follow up, would be how much of the rest of the PIM app do we retain? The only one I use is Akregator, but I fully acknowledge that a RSS reader is slightly 'old hat' now. So I am not sure.
