Any reason why you skip the symlinks?
I mean displaying thm should be fine, dolphin probably can also follow them.
Creating them on windows is a bit more problematic.

I had a look at https://github.com/KDE/extra-cmake-modules/blob/master/modules/ECMAddAppIcon.cmake#L221 a 1024 icon could also be useful.
