The user visible errors are indeed rather limited/useless. You can get more detailed output by starting kube from the commandline. With flatpak this would be:
- Queries
- All Stories
- Search
- Advanced Search

Could be, but even if I fill out URLs for card/caldav (which indeed would require different credentials from the imap/smtp account) I still get the same error. In both cases: there is nothing wrong with the server URL(s),. Due to the limited error/debug info I can't narrow it down further for a clearer bug report.

AFAIK the error will occur if you leave CardDAV or CalDAV address blank.
Imo this is related to T11176

It might be that the issue stems from an invalid mime message that we then map to a passphrase error too liberally in messagepart.cpp EncryptedMessagePart::okDecryptMIME

We no longer default to HTML mail and therefore don't download external images by default. While there certainly is room for further improvement it's good enough for now IMO

Ah, no I hadn't seen it. Maybe you could add the current icon to the kube-project.org website and the app. The reason I submitted this proposal was because I didn't see any logo either on the site or in the app, and assumed you didn't have one! o.O
Apr 24 2019
Thanks! I don't know if you have seen it or not, but we already have an icon based on very much the same idea =)
Thanks! Constructive criticism is always welcome =)

I'm wondering if anyone successfully login to gmail account with application password.
I got those errors while login my account.

Strangely - despite the folders not syncing, sending an email forces the Sent folder to sync with Kube, so you just end up with a Sent folder, and then when you delete you have the Trash folder.
@cmollekopf what is even more strange is that, with a brand new test Fastmail account it does work.

Please note that the above commit is only in the kube develop (not master) branch and will only be part of the coming 0.8.0 release.
This is fixed in the latest version as of 70fa84e2f23995fa79830c7a9961e101832f8cc6

I can confirm the same problem. For testing I have used both the current version from Arch AUR and I have built it from git source today. Both ways show the same error:

Kube currently simply lacks any keyring integration and thus doesn't store the password. We'll fix that eventually though: T10223
I'll close this ticket since this is currently expected behavior.

I have the same or a similar problem. If I select a "conversation" with more than one mail (e.g. a mail I send and one reply) kube starts to load my browser and fails with an error with the title "Error -- KIOExec" and text that starts with "File not found: data:text/html;charset=UTF-8,%3C%21DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC %22-" and followed by the rest of the mail. In the kube window the first mail is shown correctly but the second one misses the text of the mail. The subject, sender and time are shown correctly.

Hi, This also affects desktop users with touchscreen. I have a ThinkPad X230 Tablet, which accepts both touch and pen input. Trying to touch scroll on the message list initiates a drag event. Ideally a touch input would scroll and a pen input would drag.

Indeed more bizarrely, Kube only syncs the sent folder, which did not initially sync, because I sent a message using Kube.
Sep 26 2018
Weirdly, eventually data synced up for the Fastmail account after showing disconnected, but then once all is synced it resumes to showing 'disconnected - host not found' for both accounts.
This was due to the way we structured encrypted messages.
Trying out Kube for the first time (Kubuntu 18.08, flatpak)
Same problem here - for gmx mail provider (caldav and carddav left empty).

Confirmed working !
Aug 26 2018
I have successfully synchronized against mailbox.org.
Aug 24 2018
That could have to do with my key not being considered to be sufficiently secure.

Fixed in the next nightly. (The non-kolabnow dmg is already updated).

I got rid of the binding loop message by setting the default path to the home dir (see above report), but the dialog still doesn't show and we still get "QFileInfo::absolutePath: Constructed with empty filename".
I'm getting the error messages:
Should be available tomorrow with the next nightly.
ahhh, the "actual" delete key. I was thinking of "d".
That should trigger the same thing and works for me too. Let's see if we can reproduce it over the next days.
Yes, the button in the ui works for me too. I was referring to the keyboard delete key. Sorry if that was not clear enough.
This actually works for me.
Figured it out.

thanks!
Ok, will wait the distro upgrade to latest upstream version then come back with new informations.
This version is way outdated I'm afraid. Please consider testing via the flatpak at https://kube-project.com/
You can start kube on the console and see whether you see any output when you press f5. With "sinksh trace on" you can enable extra debugoutput, but even without there should be a reaction.
Ok, I take note about the labels unsupported.
F5 is of course one of the shortcut I tested, without luck :/
Any idea on how i can produce something useful to attach to this bug report ?
There is indeed no documentation but F5 will trigger a sync. Please note we do not support gmails labels (that are exposed as folders over imap), and thus exclude all such "folders".
If anybody knows how, I'd appreciate a hint.
If anybody knows how, I'd appreciate a hint.
Absolutely. This is a bug I'll have to investigate.
Confirmed working. Thanks.
The flatpaks and osx images have been updated. This should be fixed now.

The problem was that we were attempting to use starttls over port 465. I've pushed a fix but a rebuild will have to wait until kde's git mirrors are working again.
Aug 14 2018
No, I am using mailbox.org. They recommend this setting for smtp: smtps://smtp.mailbox.org:465.
@phedlund: Is your mail sending problem also on fastmail?
Great, moving on to T8348 then =)
Aug 13 2018
With the latest build reading emails from all folders seems to work fine. Thanks. I am still not able to send messages. Is the username automatically added to smtp?
Aug 11 2018
To store the data we're using QStandardPaths::GenericDataLocation and QStandardPaths::GenericConfigLocation.
