Promote KDE apps in Microsoft Store
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

The KDE Community now has an account on the Microsoft Store. The first apps will be uploaded to it soon (see T9575). We should promote it once the first apps are up.

Messages we might want to get across:

  • KDE software runs not just on Plasma Desktop or even Linux but many other operating systems as well.
  • Our vision is about giving people power over their digital life - and that includes Windows.
  • These are just the first apps. More are coming.
  • We need help with packaging and testing more apps.

Given we have now a bunch of applications in the store, it might sense to start the promotion a bit.

As you see, Okular and Kate are already "popular". Not in the range of the millions of Krita installations, but at least with some steady download rate.

We already do this systematically whenever

  • a new app gets into the store
  • a new version of an app already in the store comes out
  • we publish anything related, like the KDE Gear Announcements

What I am saying it that promoting KDE apps available from the MS store is already a routine task.

Is this okay, or are you thinking in something more specific? If so, please share your ideas.
