Logo integrated into text?

If I may add a slightly unrelated comment - the circly parts of the new logo seem to throw the spinner a bit off visually, I think it could use some larger spacing in between those two.

Please include the i18n team to ack that this should not be translated.

As I wasn't around on IRC: why not translatable? In general I dislike English branding on products. If I'm using a German localization I also want to have the product tagline in German. If it's English, people don't understand it. The most common example for that is "Douglas, come in and find out", which reads to Germans as "go in and find the exit". Similar I just googled for "Volkswagen Das Auto" - German tagline used internationally. And all you find is "What does it mean?" Taglines need to be translated IMHO.

I fear it might become some rubbish as "durch KDE" or "gemacht von KDE" or "Hersgestellt von KDE". I somewhat agree with you though, partially.

Also, everyone with recent Frameworks, even on 5.8, will get the new Plasma logo, without the KDE tag…

in that case we need a clear context. Including things like "this is the first thing our users will see. Don't make us look embarrassing"

I'm personally very happy to see the byline. While I agree the rebranding and establishing a Plasma logo/brand are smart and important, the backing identity of the KDE community is emotionally important to me, and seeing it represented at login both feels good as well as adds an element of the product understanding its roots and being proud of its heritage.

Maybe a little bigger gap between text and logo and align the text to baseline of the logo? The latter could be better or worse, not sure. Gap would be good tho.

i prefer it looking centered, there is already a gap, i can make it bigger

btw: I think the "made by KDE" actually helps reinforce the new branding/brand relationship (this is Plasma, KDE makes Plasma, KDE != Plasma).

hmm, a smallspacing like now seems to look better than a gridunit

as the plasma logo is not well recognized yet I would add on bottom to the plasma logo a text field like plasma made by KDE

wouldn't add another thext label around, cluttered enough already, if to add Plasma, i would just make the message "Plasma made by KDE"

Still not like the "KDE" plus logo. Maybe only "made by" and then the logo?
