Organising SCALE 21x
Open, NormalPublic

Description

In this task we intend to organise KDE's attendance to SCALE 21x.

Timeline

  • Event: March 14-17, 2024

Goals

  • Attract new users to KDE software, apps, frameworks (for developers) and the Plasma desktop
  • Attract support to KDE's US Network
  • Grow the number of active users in the Matrix Channel

To do this, there are 3 things we can do:

  • Set up a booth where people can acquire merch, participate in demos and play with KDE powered devices
  • Just socialise with attendees, share merch (stickers)

Proposed Live Schedule for Demos:

All times Pacific Standard Time.

I just sent an email to Illan and Bala requesting the SoCalSUSE booths, including the KDE booth.

We have an email requesting a KDE speaker to participate in a panel at the event. Here's the text from the email:

Hello KDE,

One of the speakers of the "Where Does the Linux Desktop Go from Here?" talk at SCALE 21x are looking for speakers from KDE. The conference takes place in Western North America at a venue in California, so keep that in mind. The conference takes place from March 14-17 but the talk itself is scheduled for the 16th. They have several smaller desktops in their roster (VanillaOS, StardustXR) but are looking for people to talk on behalf of the big two Linux desktops.

The abstract is located here: https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/21x/presentations/where-does-linux-desktop-go-here

Interested people should send an e-mail to jade@fyralabs.com. And if you know
any GNOME NA developers, please ask them as well 🙂

Thanks,
Josh

Would you like to do this @druonysus ? Anybody else who is already attending?
