I think it's because the file size is rather large, so Phabricator doesn't generate a thumbnail for it.

HTML might not be possible so Carl is working on a simpler layout.

As much as HTML email is not preferred in general, there's really no way to send a good-looking promo-friendly plaintext email. So it should either be an HTML email or else a plaintext email with link to a website, which would have a fancy layout. But I think an HTML email would have more impact.

Maybe we can attach a PDF? Then we can lay it out real nice in Scribus.. You would also get the benefits of adding links (as PDFs support those) and maybe even an embedded survey, if at any point you need one.

Laying out something like this would be a bit tedious the first time around, but for successive issues we can just use the original as a template. I would be happy to get it started.

Carl is working on the layout right now. He has suggested a normal prose text layout with some floating images.

My suggestion is that we send this and if we want any changes or improvements we can implement that for the next quarter.
