Promotion ideas for Okular and Blauer Engel (BE) eco-certification. Ideas welcome! Important: by contract the German Environment Agency must be informed about any outreach before publication.
Overarching message: KDE cares about the environment and is working toward a sustainable digital future!
Campaign aims: BE4FOSS (KDE Eco) will promote Okular's Blauer Engel eco-certification to general audiences interested in digital sustainability. This includes environmentalists, official institutions (especially those following Green Public Procurement initiatives), as well as computer users open to adopting environmentally-friendly software products. A related campaign will be made for software developers who (i) are working on making their software more energy-efficient (while extending battery life!) or (ii) seek eco-certification to increase the appeal of adoption of their software product by users and official institutions.
Success: Success will be measured by any of the following:
- coverage of Okular's Blauer Engel eco-certification in traditional and social media,
- an increase in downloads of Okular (where measurable),
- more interested parties joining the KDE Eco movement, or
- a higher number of Free Software developers applying for Blauer Engel eco-certification.
