Help Krusader to celebrate 20 years
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

30th April 2000 -> 30th April 2020 : The Krusader project is 20 years old! :-)

There's some history in:

It was proposed by Toni Asensi Esteve to use the following text in our announcement:

Can you document, translate, test, help other users, package, hunt bugs, add comments, or develop? Then you can help Krusader! Help is needed!

It will look good on your résumé, you'll be able to give web addresses so that your employers will see with their own eyes how industrious you are, and the way you work. Krusader needs your help!

We may need to make the announcement shinier and thorough. Some help from Promo team is needed.

Can someone from the Promo team help us to write an announcement, please?

So nobody can help us? Sad...

Apologies. I read this a couple of days ago, got sidetracked and forgot to answer. My bad.

What do you need? Social media exposure?

Sure. Please. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't use that text for the beginning of announcement. I would put that at the end. I downloaded and tried Krusader (it had been years...). What would help would be two or three strong points of Krusader that users can appreciate (is it super-lightweight? Easy to use exclusively with the keyboard? Very stable?) and maybe a couple of things that have changed to modernise it.

Ooooh! I got it: "root mode"! This is something users are always asking for Dolphin

It is the most versatile free open-source File manager (swiss knife for all purposes).

We have a list of features on our site:

Ok. I'll check stuff from there. Shall we link to the site from the social media posts (FB, Twitter, Mastodon, Diaspora*, LinkedIn & reddit)? Or would you prefer us to link somewhere else?

Krusader exploits everything that KDE can do in file management

  • work with networks and file system through Dolphin/Konqueror libs
  • compare with Kompare/Kdiff3
  • work with archives with Ark
  • rename with KRename
  • create directory maps with Filelight

and sure, link to krusader.org.

And Krusader not just a mixture of everything as it integrates everything in a sophisticated way and has unique features on inbuild panel filtering/searching (created just in the latest releases) and directory synchronization (fixed and improved lately).

As we have to fit it in a tweet, what about something like:

Krusader, KDE's powerful file manager, is 20 years old today 🎂. Krusader is ideal for power users, offering total control via keyboard and root mode. The newest version also incorporates inbuilt panel filtering/searching and directory synchronization.

If there are no objections to the above text, we will be posting between 10:00 and 11:00 CEST to all the official KDE social media accounts.

We will also be including the following image.

Thanks, Paul and Yuri!

About the "The newest version also incorporates inbuilt panel filtering/searching and directory synchronization" part, as Yuri wrote: directory synchronization was fixed and improved lately, it already existed :-).

Therefore I would suggest:

Krusader, KDE's powerful file manager, is 20 years old today 🎂. Krusader is ideal for power users, offering total control via keyboard and root mode. The newest version also incorporates inbuilt panel filtering/searching.

or if the advanced search module has to be talked about:

Krusader, KDE's powerful file manager, is 20 years old today 🎂. Krusader is ideal for power users, offering advanced searches, total control via keyboard and root mode. The newest version also incorporates inbuilt panel filtering/searching.

👍🏻

Thanks, Paul and Yuri!

Okay, I'll make the changes. Thanks
