Dear painters, could you answer the following questions:
- Do you like how the blending mode works?
- Is the name "Hard Overlay" sounds okay for you? Doesn't it conflict with any other application?
- Is the default shortcut "Shift+Alt+P" okay for you?
- Where should we add a documentation for it? In a manual? Do we need to make a video demoing the mode?
- Yes, I find the results interesting. It's similar to overlay, but with more colorful results.
- I'm think "Hard Overlay" is a good name, as I discussed on IRC already. It stays consistent with the other overlay mode.
- I don't have issues with this shortcut, though I didn't check if it could conflict with other default shortcuts.
- documentation should go at same place as other blending modes. I video to demo it could be nice, but is not a requirement imho
Yes, I like how this works. it is like overlay but without giving more saturated look. and hardlight without disturbing the hues of darker area.
- Is the name "Hard Overlay" sounds okay for you? Doesn't it conflict with any other application?
I agree with Animtim (@timotheegiet ), Hard overlay sounds good.
- Is the default shortcut "Shift+Alt+P" okay for you?
It doesn't conflict with any shortcut as far as I know. I am okay with shortcut
- Where should we add a documentation for it? In a manual? Do we need to make a video demoing the mode?
Documentation can go in the blending mode ( https://docs.krita.org/Blending_Modes) section with relevant images or gifs.
Or it can go in the unstable features section (https://docs.krita.org/Category:Unstable_Features), if we want to strictly follow the practice of adding new features there first. Although I guess it is not a problem in this case and we can add it directly to blending mode page.
Thank you @radianart for creating this blending mode :-)
Description:
Hard Overlay
This mode is mix between Color Dodge and Multiply: if color is lighter than 50% value I will light up things, if darker it’ll darken.
It’s good for adding lights and shadows without jumping between layers. And Unlike Overlay or Hard Light it gives more accurate results and keep correct value structure. It also good for adding patterns on surface.
