Description

So far we have these points to consider. we could either ellaborate on each topic and add a screenshot or just add a descriptive screenshot o every item. I prefer the latter.

  • 3 point editing
  • Advanced trim tools
  • Keyframeable effects
  • Flexible layout
  • Timecode
  • Read and write to many formats
  • GPU effects (movit)?
  • Multiple edits
  • Proxy editing
  • Translated to many languages?

Hi.
What about of animated gifs which show in 2 seconds the features?
Then about your list:

  1. For the moment I can't illustrate the "advanced trim tools" because they are in very early stage. Then we have just one of them, the rolling tool, which is not complete and that on my pc doesn't work and makes Kdenlive crash. I say nothing about it because I believe that Jean-Baptiste is not working on it by now but he's cleaning and refactoring the timeline before to move forward.
  2. I don't understand what do you mean with the topic "timecode".
  3. For movit I'm in the condition I'm for the "rolling tool". I have an Nvidia card so the GPU effects don't work yet.
  4. Can explain to me better what do you mean with "multiple edits"?

Hi.

I like it :)

Then about your list:

  1. For the moment I can't illustrate the "advanced trim tools" because they are in very early stage. Then we have just one of them, the rolling tool, which is not complete and that on my pc doesn't work and makes Kdenlive crash. I think that by the time of the release it would be done.

  1. I don't understand what do you mean with the topic "timecode".

This was @jessed suggestion.

  1. For movit I'm in the condition I'm for the "rolling tool". I have an Nvidia card so the GPU effects don't work yet.

I see that this is still very unstable so we can leave it until it is done.

  1. Can explain to me better what do you mean with "multiple edits"?

Also @jessed suggestion but i think he means the new library feature.

Here's a quick link describing timecode - http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledge-center/how-tos/photo-software/what-is-timecode.html. In Kdenlive's case, it allow the editor to conveniently navigate through a clip and find the exact moment they're looking for.

Yes, I meant the Movit stuff with GPU processing. This will be a major benefit when it's stable.

And yes, I meant the library feature. Though, for the general public, the library's use - allowing multiple edits in a single project - should be expressed, IMHO.

I know what SMPTE timecode is.. But all professional videoeditor applications have it. Timecode comes from the analog age.
For this reason I didn't understand why it was inserted into the feature list.
It's as we speak about the import clip feature. You can't use a video software without this feature.
I know that in some application for mobiles or some toy for amateurs timecode sometime is missing but Kdenlive is a professional tool, so timecode is not a plus but it's a basic must.
For which concerning "multiple edits", in all professional videoeditor applications you have multiple timelines in the same project and you can shift from one to another.
Lybrary feature is an interesting tool and it can use as an improved form of the "consolidate" feature. So, personally, I don't think we have to speak about "multiple edits" because library in this situation is a more "rigid" solution to this needs than what a professional can expect. I guess we just have to talk about the "Library" feature for what it is without referring it to the "Multiple edits".
