Not much luck. I wanted to update the splash image to the current one, but I'm having scribus problems. The existing flyer is here:

First thoughts about questions being asked to artists:

First, you gotta determine which group the artist belongs to.

  1. Never heard of Krita.
    • what kind of art they are doing? (paintings, animation, comics, VFX?...)
    • What software are you using?
    • What is the most tedious task in your current software (that you'd want better)? (Goal: to see what we could do way better than the others)
    • What is your dream feature (not existing in current software)?
    • What is the most useful feature for you in your current software?
  2. Heard of Krita, but not using
    • what kind of art they are doing? (paintings, animation, comics, VFX?...)
    • Why aren't you using Krita? ("because I'm used to something else" is completely acceptable, let's not be too antagonistic/confrontational, btw)
    • If you tried it and left, did you see something that made you give up? Or it's just going back to known software?
    • What could convince them to try Krita again, maybe?
  3. Using Krita
    • for how long?
    • do you know other software?
    • do you use other software? For what features? (Or, use Krita for what, if they do majority of work in the other software)
    • what kind of art they are doing? (paintings, animation, comics, VFX?...)
    • feature that wastes the most time?
    • the most annoying thing in Krita?
    • most useful existing feature?
    • dream feature?
    • if they work in Krita a lot: do you know about Krita Development Fund? (might be good to see if users are aware of it, whether maybe we need more Fund-related marketing?)

That's just from the top of my head.

Known pain points:

  • text (we're working on it already, but it will take time)
  • keyboard shortcuts (not working on it yet)
  • previously, resources system, but it's mostly fixed now
  • Krita is really, *really* not for graphics design, so if someone does graphics design, they are not our target audience

Known highlights:

  • Colorize mask
  • non-destructive layer stack (filter layers, clone layers, fill layers etc.)
  • built-in stabilizer (not super easy to set up to work in a comfortable way, but it's there and working)
  • built-in assistants (2d perspective, rulers, ellipse, single vanishing points, etc., and all of it can be local)
  • G'MIC (additional filters)
  • Seexpr (for laymen: programmatically defined patterns for fill layers)
  • Python scripting (can be used for extending Krita, and there are many already existing plugins that increase the functionality and convenience, there are plugins for game dev, photo bashing, super-flexible color selectors etc.)
  • huge variety of blending modes
  • native/good CMYK support
  • can't remember more...

Also it would be good to think a bit more about financial stuff - I added the Dev Fund question, but maybe there are some other interesting things about finances or marketing that we could inquire a bit to improve on that field.

Do we have any kind of follow up to this? A post-mortem, feedback we can work with for future editions?
