Default application starter does not handle focus

Description

The Kickoff menu is never setting an focus to an entry. the highlighted box is just an "fake focus" but focus: true is never set there.
seems the focus is always at search entry

this ends in the screen reader never knows what menu entry is selected and is not able follow the current item

@davidedmundson, was you already able to take a look at your existing patches? whould be sad if those getting lost :) as this is very imprtaint for a11y stuff :).
