I would create some sort of separation here between Plasma and Kubuntu. I'm getting ready to swap from Plasma to Kubuntu for a more stable experience. (less updates - less breakage - I run both now)

I've been running the linkchecker on subdomains which is probably outside the scope of this task. I've been self employed most of my life and usually as a one man show so this task concept is not something I'm used to. Should I just report bad outside of the kde.org domain link as bugs?
Ahh, ok, I thought the overhaul was for all of kde which is really needed for brand continuity. For instance, when you're on any of the mozilla sites, you know you're on a mozilla site whether by the domain or logos or just text saying Mozilla.
All the more reason to have a krita.kde.org and pull the entire krita.org site over to it and do a 301 domain redirect. Doesn't matter if they mention kde on their page then. As it stands, it looks like a different entity to the newcomer.
Hmm, looks like I'm wrong on that. I thought krita, karbon, calligra were separate but a quick look at wikipedia says all by kde. (I don't use those progs) The sites for those don't make it obvious that they're kde projects which is a shame because they're large mature programs.

Should I be bothering with some of these really old announcement pages? Just ran across 1.1.2 from 1999
UPDATE 01/03/18
I didn't bother going through anything much earlier than 4.0 for announcements pages as they're probably not priority. I'm still running subdomains that are aimed at the public and will filter out the false positives, track down the associated file and line# and keep posting them to https://notes.kde.org/p/john
moved to https://notes.kde.org/p/john

Hopefully any thumbnail images that link to a larger version, will open in a lightbox rather than going to the image in the browser and having to hit the Back button. Here's my two favorite plugins for that.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/justified-gallery/
It's also something that could be coded into the theme(s).
No problem. icefox.net ala kaudioCreator linked from multimedia/kde.org appears to be down.
When thinking about the amount of subpages/sections, keep the navigation in mind. Too many of those can easily result in clunky navigation, which usually means bad UX.
From multimedia.kde.org a link to juk leads to http://developer.kde.org/~wheeler/juk.html but there is a subdomain site for juk here https://juk.kde.org/
There's no shortage of broken link checking tools out there. They won't pick up on links that just lead to wrong pages/sites, but they will pick up dead links. I've got wc3's validator tool checking links right now. https://validator.w3.org/checklink
