Gcompris-website (screenshot page)

Description

In the Screenshot-page of Gcompris-qt website, the screenshots are arranged in category-wise without mentioning the category.
It become a tedious task to search for a particular activity screenshot.
My proposal is to have a Navigational menu like this :
First the category name is displayed and then it's various activities in ascending order (In bulleted list).

--Computer discovery

A baby word processor
Control-the hose pipe
Maze
Mining for Gold
Penalty kick

--Arithmetics

Double entry table
Enumeration
Mirror image
Table memory

--Science

Electric simulation
The canal lock
The submarine
The water cycle,

--Geography

--Games

--Reading

Hi,
if you know the activity you are looking for, can't you use the search feature of your browser?
But yes, globally I agree browsing this page is not easy.
Maybe it would be better to have like in the software: the list of categories and once you click on one, screenshots for only this category are displayed?

I'll work on updating the screenshots page.

I'm still searching the best way to go for it, as it's not very obvious which solution is the best... But I'll find something ;)

I think I'll go with something like this:

-On the top, a "category filter" drop-down menu to select a category, by default on first line "All categories".
-Below, the activity cards corresponding to selected category in the filter (by default showing all the activities).
-A sticky button on the bottom-right corner to go back to the top of the page.

I'm hesitating to also add next to the category-filter another drop-down menu showing the list of activities corresponding to selected filter. It might make it easier to search for a specific activity by name, but at the same time it is not really the goal of this page... I see more the goal of this page as a show-case of all the activities, so while having a way to see only activities from a specific category can be useful, I'm not sure that searching for a specific activity by name is relevant here.

Also, once the activities are filtered by category, it would not really be more tedious to just scroll the activity cards ordered by name if someone is searching a specific activity by name than scrolling a name-only list.

Good for me, if possible we should have lazy loading of the images if we display them all by default to reduce the workload.
I do not think the list of activities is necessary (maybe later if we get asked).

I already have the base logic part working :)

Now I mostly "just" have to update all the style/layout of that page... (which will probably take more time)

There will be a few new translatable strings, but that's not as much an issue as on the front page, so I think we can use it as soon as it will be ready.
