I don't appear to have access to the noteworthy features doc; could you expand permissions?

Apologies, Nate. You should now have access to the whole Promo tree of directories. if you have trouble accessing the file now, let me know.

For video, I'm thinking we should make a really quick trailer (like Paul did for Plasma 5.22 at first) with fast-moving stuff, screenshots, irl footage, fast- paced text etc. and leave the informative part to the article (?)

Could it not be super-fast? Super-fast videos give me a headache and create a feeling of panic. I think slowing down and showing each screenshot for 2 or 3 seconds is much nicer.

yeah, that could work as well. For KDE people screenshots are really interesting, but then, will..."non-nerds" find basically a slideshow of screenshots interesting in a pile of media fighting for their attention (on twitter or instagram ect.)? if they are just a quick thing you might want to look at the article for more details, but if I can 'read' it in the video then I'm less likely to go further. At least how I'd think.

You are approaching this from the wrong angle, @aronkvh .You are thinking of what you want to show instead of what you want to achieve.

The text is clearly for initiated and the community, so it is fine to tell them about 5, 7 apps that seem unrelated. Because they are related to that audience: they are all KDE. What do we want to achieve with the announcement? Well, we want to tell our core audience that, as every 4 months, they can expect shiny new versions of their stuff coming up in the updates and get them chattering about them, so talking about all that stuff in one go is fine. I mean, who would one sit and read a text for 5 or 20 minutes about a a variety of apps unless one were previously invested in the overall project?

A video for IG, YT or whatever is different, at least if you are aiming for "non-nerds", that is, people who are not necessarily KDE software users, but are (or could potentially be) KDE app users.

Think of it like this: How would you more effectively convince an artist to download and use Krita? With a half a minute-long video dedicated exclusively to Krita? Or with a minute-long video with 5 seconds dedicated to Krita and then the other 55 seconds dedicated to KDE Connect, Dolphin, Gwenview, Kdenlive, Kate, Konsole, Spectacle, Okular, Kalendar, Elisa, and Tokodon?

Also, each audience for each app is probably quite different one from the other, so why are you making them sit through stuff they are not interested in?

What I am saying is if you are worried about the pace of a video that would run through ALL KDE Gear 22.12, don't be, because you shouldn't be making that video.

Make 1 snappy-paced demo for 1 app, and engage 1 audience properly. It also solves the "motion sickness" problem @ngraham is referring to: it can be relatively fast, but as you have more space to breathe, it doesn't have to be breakneck. Also, as it is all on one topic, it is easier to follow.

Or make an ad, as they are more re-usable: we often get asked to provide videos to play at events. A general ad (that doesn't have to concentrate exclusively on the new features) for, say KDE Connect, has a longer shelf-life than one about everything in KDE Gear 22.12. It can be used again and again for many months, even maybe a year or two. You can have a general presentation of the app and you can tack on a segment of the new features when they become available to keep it fresh.
