Converting dot.kde.org to Hugo
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

I started converting dot.kde.org to Hugo, the current website is located invent.kde.org/carlschwan/dot-kde-org here.

Current todos:

  • Fix the layout of the homepage a bit
  • Import image from current websites (easy but could be complicated if the webpage become too big)
  • Make sure the content didn't break during the conversion Drupal7 -> Jekyll -> Hugo (easy but very long)
  • Import manually the few articles posted in the last month

"Do you think that this is a suitable way to produce content for the dot and eventually the announcements or are crucial features missing?"

From the discussion that Carl started the main issue was comments. I'd be in favour of just archiving the old Drupal site. For stories on the Hugo system ideally we'd have an iframe onto forum.kde.org and even more ideally that would be using Discourse.

Agreed. I think it is be sensible to separate possible migration of the forums to Discourse from the Dot migration to Hugo, given that the Discourse migration likely will still take some time which would block the Dot to Hugo project.
