Currently we have URLs such as https://kde.org/applications/system/org.kde.dolphin that are not easy to type and to spell.
It would be nice to have URLs such as https://kde.org/applications/system/dolphin or even just https://kde.org/applications/dolphin by setting up proper redirects.
Actually https://kde.org/applications/system/dolphin already works and redirects to https://kde.org/applications/system/org.kde.dolphin
Still, the other way round would be nicer imho. The reverse DNS notation is an implementation detail that shouldn't be exposed in the URL.
I'm not sure changing the URL is a good idea now, also for some apps/extensions there is just no way to know that is the name that should be used.
What we could probably do it remove the category in the URL and it would actually make sense.
I'm looking at the code. If I'm not wrong, the URLs are generated by parsing https://kde.org/applications/index.json
Can't we just drop the org.kde prefix, since all the entries have it? Or am I missing something?
