Portable Applications and Stores
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

To further increase the adoption of LabPlot we should create portable versions of the application and make it available in as many as possible stores.
The different package formats and stores will be handled in sub-tasks.

Misc:
Portable versions allow to try out or use LabPlot directly from an USB-stick without touching the system:

To increase adoption, would it also be possible for LabPlot to collaborate with @cullmann on Microsoft Store publication?

Having LabPlot in the store on Windows makes it just a couple of clicks away for users, plus (AFAIK) gives stronger guarantees that the rest of the system is not affected.

If you get some craft blueprint, you have a portable 7z file + installers for users + store. I can help with that.

There seems to be already some blueprint, but it doesn't work since some time:

@IlyaBizyaev @cullmann yes, we also want to publish in Microsoft Store. I created already a task for this T11868.

We have already a blueprint, yes. But this need to be optimized. Currently, the build produced on binary-factory is bigger and most probably not complete compared to what we produce manually for releases with https://invent.kde.org/kde/labplot/blob/master/admin/labplot-64bit-setup.iss. Christoph, we'll approach you and ask maybe for help with publishing once we have a "productive" build on binary-factory.
