Description

Hello to all!

I support the KDE interface system for Figma.
Figma is a modern tool designed for interface design and visualization, it supports exporting to open and free SVG format (it was tested and verified in the official KDE VDG - Main room in Telegram).

I am also a graphic designer and interface designer in a project adapting the application for Linux under the Linux system.
The essence of our project is the promotion of modern methods of designing and implementing graphic design interfaces for various Linux systems.
Here is a link to our project.

I attached a link to the file and the file itself for those who want to use this approach to the design of the KDE interface.

What does this look like?

I will be happy to work on your project as a graphic interface designer, and will be happy to help make KDE even more convenient.

Hello! This looks interesting; what is the proposal here? To use Figma for UI mockups? Or something else? Do you need anything from VDG here?

If the proposal is to use Figma for mockups, I'd have to -1 that. Figma is a proprietary online service that we have no control over and the free tier is far too limited for a project of our scope. https://www.figma.com/pricing/

While it does use the SVG format, the SVGs it produces don't always have good compatibility with FOSS SVG editors like Inkscape.

I see source code for the desktop app here: https://github.com/ChugunovRoman/figma-linux

Is that the only FOSS part and it requires a proprietary server?

It's an unofficial hack/port (or rewrite) of a proprietary application that requires a propietary server to run.

ngraham claimed this task.

Welp, we can't use that then, sorry.

The .fig's components could probably be converted to a more OSS-friendly SVG for use in programs like inkscape, however.
