I'm a bit out of the loop so I don't know if this was discussed already, but the KDE Neon download page has a sponsored link pointing to Shells. It's a paid service, but they could possibly offer limited free access to a remote Plasma 6 session in exchange for some promotion for themselves (you know, user registrations on their website so they can capture leads, a sponsored post on KDE social media, etc.)

I added https://phabricator.kde.org/T14791 as a subtask since it's related to this one. That task has stalled since I couldn't find the last few missing files on Collaborate.

These kinds of tips won't bring much benefit to KDE as a whole as they're already pretty common on other places (like blogs or Linux websites) and they're only relevant to people that already use KDE software. I'm closing this. Hopefully I can come up with something more solid next time.

Here are all of Nate's blog posts up to this point with changes that will likely be shipped in 5.26 (some things might have gotten reverted or changed, so it's good to double-check if the changes in the blog posts are shipping in 5.26):

Below, are my suggestions for keywords. Please note I don't have an active Ads account, so whoever is in charge of creating the campaign will need to research the keywords for how much they bid for, how many searches they get, how competitive they are, etc. I did add a few keywords I think are worth investigating.

I added a picture to tips that will be shared, simplified the introductions and removed some comments. I won't remove all comments to make the text feel friendly, but I'll use them sparingly. The pictures I added are important because they'll illustrate the links to the tips in social media, hopefully they won't be a problem.

I simplified the introductions and now they are at most a line long.

Okay, I split up the KDE Connect tutorial into three tips and I also added many more. I had written some other text and I figured I could do the same I did to KDE Connect to them. This helps ensure tips are short as they should. Now we have:

Hi, @apollozhu. Coincidentally, I'm writing a tutorial about sending files with KDE Connect for Promo. I don't have access to an iOS device, so I just assumed the instructions should be similar between Android and iOS. I have just updated the text with iOS instructions. Can you or someone else from KDE Connect check if the instructions I wrote would apply to iOS? The text is here: https://userbase.kde.org/Tips/Transfer_files_between_phone_and_PC_using_Wi-Fi

I made the first draft version of the first tutorial. This one targets the target public number 2. You can see what it looks like here: https://collaborate.kde.org/s/Jb8mXNeYcBnQXW9

- Wikis usually use a more formal language and are a resource for people that need to read the full documentation about something. Including a bunch of casually written stuff will clutter the wiki with irrelevant content for the target public.
What AAARE you talking about? Use the language you see fit, buddy.

At one point about a month ago I proposed for Plasma to have a way to notify the user of new features and point them to release announcements, thus helping Promo to reach new people. After some discussion, we seem to have settled on a simple notification before and after Plasma gets updated to a major version. There hasn't been a lot of activity on that idea, probably because KDE Devs are already swamped in work. With that in mind, I think it would be a nice idea to make it a SoK project. It seems to be a simple project and will benefit both Plasma users (as a way to teach them about new features) and Promo. Here's the discussion: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/issues/24

Hi everyone.
Nov 7 2021
Looks really interesting and it could definitely help new users. Can we get a page linking to KDE Social Media and websites at some point?

I added some stuff to the list of improvements but for some reason I couldn't make the formatting work by simply pasting what I wrote. I uploaded the file I made (KDE Gear 21.12 (1).md) on the folder and reverted the changes I made to the original. If it looks fine you can use it instead.

Hi! I want to give an update on this task. We finished the contest for Plasma Mobile a while back and I decided to give this task a break for some time. Now I think it's time to start talking about this again. I'll explain below why I didn't yet try to organize a new contest for Plasma:
Sep 25 2021
What if we post an image like this to KDE social media (including Reddit) and grab screenshots of the best comments? Then add those screenshots as testimonials to the webpage of the task https://phabricator.kde.org/T14628

I have no specific suggestions for this video, but this artist provides a huge number of songs with the most varied styles. All of his tracks are CC-BY. I bet we can find something here:

Alright! I guess there are no more KCMs to change. If anyone knows some I might've missed feel free to tell me. Now I think the last step should be to test the search function on System Settings and check if the changes actually made searching better or not. I'll close this task when 5.23 is released so we have until then to test.
Sep 7 2021
I think I got them all. @meven can you help Nate review the merge requests? The links are in the task description.

Who is our audience?
I'll say it: everyone outside of our bubble, even those who would not like to try out new OSs or FLOSS stuff. Because again, it will be much easier to make people switch to Plasma if there's the idea that it's a viable alternative to Windows and not a cheap ripoff. Sure, that Adobe guy will never switch to Plasma himself, but maybe when his granma says Win is too complex, he'll consider Plasma.

For some reason I can't pass Cloudfare's security test when trying to edit wiki pages. This is the source text with updated links for https://community.kde.org/Promo/Material. It's still missing one link for Presentations since I couldn't find the right folder.
Which one of these files (https://collaborate.kde.org/f/60621) is supposed to go on the press kit pages? The ZIP file?
