I'm a bit out of the loop so I don't know if this was discussed already, but the KDE Neon download page has a sponsored link pointing to Shells. It's a paid service, but they could possibly offer limited free access to a remote Plasma 6 session in exchange for some promotion for themselves (you know, user registrations on their website so they can capture leads, a sponsored post on KDE social media, etc.)

Ok. But should we be linking to files on collaborate? The nature of Collaborate is that of shared storage for people working on KDE stuff, not for public-facing stuff.
I would propose that the stuff that lives on Collaborate and is being linked to from the wiki or front-facing web pages be copied to the wiki or the CDN, and be linked to from there.
I added https://phabricator.kde.org/T14791 as a subtask since it's related to this one. That task has stalled since I couldn't find the last few missing files on Collaborate.

The sound you made are really cool! I'll look into these as a normal contribution some time!
However for now, I happen to be specifically looking for an SoK project. The "ideas" link on https://season.kde.org/ seems to be directing to 2022's ideas. Where should I report this?

I have experience with sound design and music production. Following the conversation above, I figure out I need to set up LMMS (I have worked with Audacity before) as mentioned in the README for the blue-ocean-sound-theme.
Can you tell me how I should proceed?

These kinds of tips won't bring much benefit to KDE as a whole as they're already pretty common on other places (like blogs or Linux websites) and they're only relevant to people that already use KDE software. I'm closing this. Hopefully I can come up with something more solid next time.

Here are all of Nate's blog posts up to this point with changes that will likely be shipped in 5.26 (some things might have gotten reverted or changed, so it's good to double-check if the changes in the blog posts are shipping in 5.26):

But if people discover and download and start using Kdenlive, and find they like it, they would probably be more likely donate, don't you think? It would be counterproductive to go out of our way to discourage downloads (or only seek visitors to the site). When I think of "discovering Kdenlive" I am thinking of actually getting it, using it, finding it useful, thus creating a user that would be willing to donate later on to ensure the project's survival.

Below, are my suggestions for keywords. Please note I don't have an active Ads account, so whoever is in charge of creating the campaign will need to research the keywords for how much they bid for, how many searches they get, how competitive they are, etc. I did add a few keywords I think are worth investigating.

I added a picture to tips that will be shared, simplified the introductions and removed some comments. I won't remove all comments to make the text feel friendly, but I'll use them sparingly. The pictures I added are important because they'll illustrate the links to the tips in social media, hopefully they won't be a problem.

Okay, I split up the KDE Connect tutorial into three tips and I also added many more. I had written some other text and I figured I could do the same I did to KDE Connect to them. This helps ensure tips are short as they should. Now we have:

In T15318#274491, @lucaswzx wrote:Hello, @Guilhermems. Thanks for writing up those instructions! It's a nice, quick documentation for all the KDE Connect clients. But I would like to point up a couple of things about the iOS client in particular.
Near the end of the page, you what I assumed to be a general statement for all KDE Connect clients:
"After finishing the steps for your platform, your file will be transferred in the background to the Downloads folder of the receiving device. You can also check your device’s notifications for more information about the progress."
Regarding KDE Connect iOS, the differences are:
- KDE Connect iOS doesn't currently have background activity support (due to iOS urge to really, REALLY want to suspend apps in the background), so in order for the file to actually download (or any part of the app to work), the app NEEDS to stay in the foreground with the device unlocked and running.
- KDE Connect iOS does not have access to the device's Downloads folder, only its own sandboxed Document directory, located in Files App: On My Phone/KDE Connect/
- KDE Connect iOS does not currently use the device's notification center. Without background activity, it wouldn't be very useful. Currently, all statuses and user information are displayed through alerts in the app, which was actually recently revamped by a Seasons of KDE 2022 project. So the only way to "check for more information about the progress" is to keep the app open.
We do have somewhat of a plan to implement the features that are currently lacking from the points above, but we can't say anything for certain at the moment.
Lastly, regarding the other general statement "See how easy it was to transfer files using Wi-Fi? If you want to know more, you can go to the KDE Connect website.":
I believe that KDE Connect doesn't strictly need Wi-Fi to be able to function. As long as a LAN connection can be established between 2 devices, it will work. Meaning it will technically work if 2 devices are connected directly via Ethernet, or if you're VPN or SSH-ing from the other side of the globe.

Hi, @apollozhu. Coincidentally, I'm writing a tutorial about sending files with KDE Connect for Promo. I don't have access to an iOS device, so I just assumed the instructions should be similar between Android and iOS. I have just updated the text with iOS instructions. Can you or someone else from KDE Connect check if the instructions I wrote would apply to iOS? The text is here: https://userbase.kde.org/Tips/Transfer_files_between_phone_and_PC_using_Wi-Fi

- Wikis usually use a more formal language and are a resource for people that need to read the full documentation about something. Including a bunch of casually written stuff will clutter the wiki with irrelevant content for the target public.
What AAARE you talking about? Use the language you see fit, buddy.

At one point about a month ago I proposed for Plasma to have a way to notify the user of new features and point them to release announcements, thus helping Promo to reach new people. After some discussion, we seem to have settled on a simple notification before and after Plasma gets updated to a major version. There hasn't been a lot of activity on that idea, probably because KDE Devs are already swamped in work. With that in mind, I think it would be a nice idea to make it a SoK project. It seems to be a simple project and will benefit both Plasma users (as a way to teach them about new features) and Promo. Here's the discussion: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/issues/24

I added some stuff to the list of improvements but for some reason I couldn't make the formatting work by simply pasting what I wrote. I uploaded the file I made (KDE Gear 21.12 (1).md) on the folder and reverted the changes I made to the original. If it looks fine you can use it instead.

Hi! I want to give an update on this task. We finished the contest for Plasma Mobile a while back and I decided to give this task a break for some time. Now I think it's time to start talking about this again. I'll explain below why I didn't yet try to organize a new contest for Plasma:

What if we post an image like this to KDE social media (including Reddit) and grab screenshots of the best comments? Then add those screenshots as testimonials to the webpage of the task https://phabricator.kde.org/T14628

The visuals of the video would have to change to fit the style of music chosen though.
Scott makes great music, I've been following him for quite a while but his style of music is very cinematic and dramatic, so probably not a good fit for the trailer.
There's another channel btw, Royalty Free Planet, they post CC music exclusively and they have a lot of good songs.

Alright! I guess there are no more KCMs to change. If anyone knows some I might've missed feel free to tell me. Now I think the last step should be to test the search function on System Settings and check if the changes actually made searching better or not. I'll close this task when 5.23 is released so we have until then to test.

Who is our audience?
I'll say it: everyone outside of our bubble, even those who would not like to try out new OSs or FLOSS stuff. Because again, it will be much easier to make people switch to Plasma if there's the idea that it's a viable alternative to Windows and not a cheap ripoff. Sure, that Adobe guy will never switch to Plasma himself, but maybe when his granma says Win is too complex, he'll consider Plasma.

It seems that I don't have access to the folder so I don't know about that ZIP file, but I found this folder https://collaborate.kde.org/s/XEQGWX78nSFJmCq?path=%2FPress containing a PDF and some images, which I think fit with the description above the Press Kit download button "The Press Kit contains a booklet with written guidelines and resources, and a selection of images that can be freely used in any KDE-related content."
I have made a scan through the content of kde.org, that is the only Share link left. I can update it when we know which Collab link to use.

That;s unfortunate.. it shouldn't crash anymore. You could help me by getting some logs; can you try again with just running kdeconnectd.exe from a command prompt in the installation files directory, after closing the app completely (close by clicking the Quit button in the system tray icon menu)
That way, if it crashes, you could get the logs to me from the command prompt.
I have a suggestion: On Windows, it would be good if it could show a notification when a device wants to pair. Currently I have to open the config Windows if I want to accept a new device.
Actually, we already do have a notification for that in place.. Make sure your notification preferences is not set to Priority Only or something like that in the Action Center.. :D
