The aim of this task is to encourage current and new users to adopt KDE software applications using the announcement of the new versions contained within the 24.12 release as a hook. On this occasion, we will also be trying to attract donations to the end of year fundraiser.

2024 Fundraiser Edition
Every 4 months, KDE releases a long list of new versions of applications all at the same time. Thanks to the continued support of our generous donors, today we can release KDE ⚙️ Gear 24.12.
You too can support KDE and our efforts to provide you with a comprehensive catalogue of utilities for work, unleashing your creativity and having fun. You can even express your support for your favorite apps by adopting them!
Today's collection comes loaded with a rich assortment of updated applications, covering from social media managers, to storage monitors, and from terminal emulators to travel assistants, all offering exciting new improvements and features.
Let's take a look at just a few of the applications, some renewed and some brand new, which will be landing on your desktop in the next few days.

Kate
Make it again possible to scroll, select text and click on links inside documentation tooltips in Kate. (Leia uwu, 24.12.0. Link)
Kate continues to become more and more developer friendly with the changes made by Christoph Cullmann where the order of the tabs is correctly restored when restoring a previous session (Christoph Cullmann, 24.08.3. Link), and the options of the LSP Symbols are more easily discoverable as they are not only available via a context menu, but also within a menu button at the top (Waqar Ahmed, 24.12.0. Link).

Kdenlive
Kdenlive is KDE's full-featured video editor, which now lets you resize multiple items on the timeline at the same time. (Jean-Baptiste Mardelle, 24.12.0 Link).

Dolphin
Dolphin now sorts more naturally when comparing filenames by excluding extensions. So now "a.txt" appears before "a 2.txt". (Eren Karakas, 24.12.0. Link)

Itinerary's Matrix integration now uses encrypted Matrix rooms by default and Itinerary can now do session verification, which is going to be mandatory in the future. (Volker Krause, 25.04.0. Link 1 and link 2)
Itinerary can now show you a map of the whole trip (Volker Krause, 24.12.0, link).
And display some statistics about your trip, for example the CO2 emission, the distance travelled and the costs (if available) (Volker Krause, 24.12.0, link).
Itinerary now supports extracting reservations from planway.com, flight tickets from VietJet Air and train tickets from the Thai state railway. Additionally, dates from day-specific train tickets from NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) are now correctly parsed (Volker Krause, 24.08.3. Link 1, link 2, link 3), and, while on an NS intercity train, you can also access the live journey information provided by the onboard WiFi (Carl Schwan, 24.12.0. Link).
Kongress
Kongress is an app which helps you navigate conferences and events.
The newest version will display more information about events in the event list. This includes whether the event is in your bookmarked events and the locations within the event (e.g. the rooms) (cah fof pai, 24.12.0. Link).

NeoChat
We fixed the sed-edit feature in NeoChat, which allows you to type a sed expression like s/foo/bar to edit your previous message. (James Graham, 24.12.0. Link)
On mobile devices, NeoChat won't open the space homepage when trying to just switch the selected space. (James Graham, 24.12.0. Link)
Implemented MSC4228: Search Redirection to harmlessly redirect searches for harmful and potentially illegal content.

And made sending messages and inserting newline shortcuts configurable (Eren Karakas, 24.12.0, link).
In large repos, a git status update can be slow. The least we can do for the user is show that something is happening. Hence, now, if the git status is being refreshed you will see the refresh button become unclickable and start spinning. (Waqar Ahmed, 24.12.0. Link)
In the project tree view, files will now show their status in git. The status is shown minimally, i.e. via a small circle displayed in front of the file name. If the file has been modified, the circle is red; if the file is staged, it's green. (Waqar Ahmed, 24.12.0. Link)
Kleopatra
We redesigned Kleopatra's notepad and sign encrypt dialog. In the notepad, the text editor and the recipients view are also now side by side (Carl Schwan, 24.12.0. Link).
