Agreed, Wayland lacks in many core functionalities. Using Wayland with Nvidia is still a nightmare. The push to switch away from x11 seems kind of silly and probably not in the best interest of KDE. I understand the need to switch, but wayland isn't ready yet.

I got AMD and NVIDIA GPUs in devices, and I don't get any Wayland specific issues anymore, only general NVIDIA related ones.

• Nvidia RTX 3050TI Optimus
• Nvidia GT 710

And I helped some friends with setting up Nvidia.
I generally would say, that Nvidia is just harder to set up right, and a lot of distros (even some which claim to ship the drivers), just don't set them up correctly out of the box.

But I personally, with my GPUs described above, don't have any Wayland related issues anymore.

Also, the decision to focus on one, instead of multiple, is just a logical decision, to get stuff actually done.
Besides with Ben Skeggs, now working at Nvidia, and contributing to nouveau with his work email, Nvidia should get a lot better in general soon

The days of X11 are numbered, no matter which way you slice it.

We will continue maintaining X11 support as long as necessary, but not longer. How long that will be isn't entirely within our control, but we need to do our homework.

An explicit "keep X11" goal will not be useful or actionable

Each goal needs Champions. If no-one is found it will unfortunately not be eligible for voting.
