Please reconsider KDE's stance on privacy

Description

Here's my thinking: if FOSS projects, even those based in countries where democracy hasn't quite died yet, lack the courage to stand up against the rhetoric that is being used to take our privacy away ("Domestic terrorism!", "Think of the children!", etc.), then they should at the very least be honest about it.

I mean, not even Tor, I2P, and Monero dare to say anything about the looming threat of mandatory backdoors (Apple's on-device content scanning, EARN IT Act, etc.) on their homepages. Remember how back in the day thousands of websites put up huge warning bars to protest SOPA? Well, if mandatory backdoors catch on, privacy as we know it will be lost forever. But nobody seems to have the guts to fight back...

With this in mind, please consider scrubbing all mentions of privacy from KDE products and websites, for instance:

"No." isn't a good answer though...

Look, I'm not posting this in bad faith, I genuinely don't understand.

We're about to lose the last scraps of privacy we still have, and most likely all hope of ever reclaiming it in the future.

How come FOSS projects that claim to care about privacy (such as KDE, or even Tor) are neither ringing all possible apocalypse bells, nor renouncing privacy altogether?

Please! Just one straight answer... Is the situation not as bad as I think it is?

All I need right now is a tiny bit of hope...

You want a straight answer? Ok.

No, the situation is not as bad as you think it is. Your binary, black-and-white thinking ("if something isn't perfect, we should actively destroy it") is immature in the extreme, and its expression to people who are obviously not receptive smacks of delusion and paranoia. You need to re-focus on things that matter and realistic wins instead of tilting at windmills.

If you re-open this again, we'll have to block you from posting. And if you try to create a new account to continue badgering people, we'll block those too.

Put on your big boy pants and grow up. If this is an issue you care deeply about, find an approach that is effective.
