Create Polish translation for Krita.org
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Hi, the file was left not translated for a longer time, and I finally could do it, so I translated it to Polish. There are a few single word statements that I couldn't locate on the website, so these may be wrong, but overall, it should be OK.

I also noticed that at the beginning of the document, there is a typo Kirta.org ("i" and "r" replaced), but I don't know if its safe to fix that.

Great!

@scottpetrovic what is the process of translating posts? Just copy the content in Wordpress editor and make a new post with translated text? Or something else? (Are there .po files for posts?)

And can we/should we make a post like "Hi, there is Polish version of the wesbite and the manual available"?

@tymond - For making a translation for posts and many pages, you first go to the english version in WordPress. When you are in the edit screen for a post/page, there is a bunch of country flags on the right. You press the edit button (pencil icon) next to the Poland flag and it should create a Polish version. The page will switch to a new polish page where you can edit and save that one. The reason it is done like that is the different langues are all linked together, so if someone tries to go to a language that doesn't exist...it falls back to the English version.

I would say when the site is in a good state, we could have a post. Probably even more important than that is figure out where the Polish art communities are and say something there.

@scottpetrovic krita.org still isn't available in Polish. An user appeared who volunteered to translate it, but it seems that it's already translated but not committed. What needs to be done next?

@tymond - That last message was probably for you send by @wojnilowicz . Is this something you are going to have time for with all the Krita 5 stuff going on. I think we left off with having the PO files, but needing all the WordPress translations for the pages

@wojnilowicz - FYI tymond (tiar) is from Poland, so I thought she was going to be doing the translation for a lot of the page content. If she doesn't have time we will need someone else that can translate those sections.

You somehow got single pl_PL.po file extracted from the webpage. Is there no fast reverse process to get it back there?
If some transaltion string are missing then there is/was a volunteer willing to help.

@wojnilowicz - Ahh ok, so you are doing the translations.

For translating krita.org there are two parts.

  1. PO file that has the translations for the theme file
  2. WordPress HTML translations stored in a SQL database

I believe @tymond has done the first part and I have already uploaded that. For other languages, what we have been doing is that I give someone a bunch of HTML files. Then they translate the text and send them back to me. I copy and paste them into WordPress and enable the language?

Do you need all the HTML files?

Hi!
Łukasz Wojniłowicz told me that you can help me if I want to translate Krita's website.

@scottpetrovic

@ikiw - Hey, sorry, somehow the notification when you messaged me got lost. I think the next step for the Polish translations is to translate a lot of the content.

Are you very comfortable with HTML? The next part is I give you a bunch of HTML files and you translate the content. I can then paste them into WordPress and finish building out the Polish pages on krita.org.

I will see if I can send you a private message with my email for further communication.

@ikiw I - guess phabricator cannot send messages to people. I will just post this ZIP file here with the stuff to translate

This is a zip file that has a bunch of text files in it with the english content. If you can open these up and translate the content of this, I can finish setting up the Polish version of the site on krita.org and we can make any further changes. It has been a number of years since we did a translation for krita.org, so I created an updated base translation zip file so it is the same as the english.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks @scottpetrovic - I'm glad that the topic of this polish translation is finally moving on ;)
@ikiw - Let me know in case you need some help with html or the translation itself. I can also check it out once you're ready.
