Every time we change the Plasma wallpaper, we have to undergo a multi-step process to update everything:
1. Move old wallpaper from `breeze` repo to `plasma-workspace-wallpapers` repo
2. Replace wallpaper in `breeze` repo with new one
3. Create a new user account named "Konqi", logg into it, switch the language to English, open some windows, take a full-screen screenshot, switch the color scheme to light/dark and do it again, log back into your original user account, and replace the Breeze Global Theme preview images in `plasma-workspace` with the new ones
4. Log into the new user account again, run `kscreenlocker_greet --testing"`, take a screenshot with no window decorations, (typically three times a year; log back into your original user accountone per Plasma release), and replacing the lockscreen preview image in `plasma-workspace` with the new one
5.we have to undergo a time-consuming, Run `sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme ~/kde/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/`,error-prone 17-step process to update everything. take a screenshot without window decorations, and replace the SDDM preview image in `plasma-workspace` with the new oneSee https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Change_the_default_wallpaper for details.
Steps 1 and 2 are easy. Steps 3-5 are very time-consuming and error prone. Because there are three Plasma releases a year, someone in VDG has to do this three times a yearBy far the most time-consuming steps involve generating appropriate preview images. It would be much nicer if we could automate steps 3-5 somehowas much of it as possible such that the final preview images were generated programmatically just by feeding a wallpaper image into a script, which would overlay the necessary content on top automatically and take screenshots. As a nice bonus, we might even be able to produce localized preview images instead of just one English one.
