Remove rarely used options, add important ones in main toolbar, for ex:
Save/Undo&Redo/Add Clip/Add Effect/Add Transition/Export
Description
A while back I had proposed one possible idea to improve the main toolbar, the details being in this bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358390.
The gist of the idea was to move all of the options in the top menu into its own icon on the main toolbar. Reasons being:
- Would save real estate for the layout
- Would simplify the appearance
OR, what if the top menubar and the main toolbar were merged, somehow? The menu bar seems to have all of the generally relevant options for Kdenlive. What if some of them, like the Project, Timeline, Monitor, etc. menu options were given their own buttons with their own icons, and clicking on them opens the sub-menus in a list below, similar to what clicking on them in the top menubar does now?
Three days ago, I posted a poll on the Google+ Kdenlive community to see what other users thought about the "Single Kdenlive Menu Button" idea to replace the top menu list above the main toolbar. To date, 31 votes were put in, 17 in favor of a default single menu button that brings all of the menu items to view in a drown-down list style, and 14 were in favor of keeping it the traditional way it is now.
The main toolbar is hidden by default since a while. So this is not really relevant anymore.
