Testing Frameworks 5.34 backports (zesty,yakkety,xenial)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi,

frameworks 5.34 backports are available for Zesty, Yakkety, and Xenial.

They are available for testing in backports-landing.

I would like to 'rush' at least the Yakkety ones since they provide the security fix for kauth.

Cheers.

17.04 in a VM. KInfocenter, Konsole, and Dolphin all report KDE Frameworks 5.34, with no immediate breakage.

Updated real HW on an Intel box. When I restarted, sddm failed to start, so I logged in to the terminal and ran startx.

Updated real HW on an Intel box. When I restarted, sddm failed to start, so I logged in to the terminal and ran startx.

Which one it is? Zesty? Yakkety? Xenial?

Apologies for the omission: I updated Zesty. I should be able to test XX, YY and another ZZ box after work.

Upgrade update to backports landing, frameworks 5.34:

  • Zesty1 (real hw) required terminal login and startx
  • Zesty2 (real hw) no issues
  • Zesty3 (real hw) no issues
  • Yakkety (real hw) no issues
  • Xenial (real hw) required termial login and startx

Upgraded my travel laptop running 16.04 LTS then added backports-landing, and updated and full-upgrade. Upon restart, no problems. Played a game of Klondike, used Chromium, everything seems to work well.

Don't security updates go out in security updates, not just backports?

Don't security updates go out in security updates, not just backports?

The bug is fixed in an update to the 5.26 package in yakkety archive. However, backports ppa has Frameworks 5.28 so a yakkety user of that will not get the fix unless we fix the 5.28 package in there as well, or backport the whole 5.34 inc the fixed kauth.

Thanks for the clarification, Rik!
