Put each Course in its proper Topic
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

The following templates had been created and have to be inserted :

Italian site:
http://it.wikitolearn.org/Template:Argomento

English site

Each course has to be removed from the department homepage and inserted as a link in the proper Disambiguation page. Each disambiguation page has to be named according to the convention "Topic (Disambiguation)"

I also suggest to insert in each disambiguation page the category Disambigua (ita) or Disambiguation (eng)

If you are working on it right now, I'd suggest to template this page: http://it.wikitolearn.org/Spazi_di_Hilbert so that we can also close this task: https://phabricator.kde.org/T2801 . Otherwise it should be added to the "to-do-list"

If you are working on it right now, I'd suggest to template this page: http://it.wikitolearn.org/Spazi_di_Hilbert so that we can also close this task: https://phabricator.kde.org/T2801 . Otherwise it should be added to the "to-do-list"

Done! Please check if it's ok (Ruphy still have to insert a section for books, then we'll insert them too). I wrote a brief description, feel free to improve it.

Amazing, thanks! I've closed that task!

Proposal:
instead of calling the first course with the name of the topic and everything else differently, give the name of the topic to the {{Topic}} page, and leave the standard name for the courses as Topic (collaborative).

As an example, with the current proposal of this task, this would be

  • C++
    • Page containing a course
  • C++ (disambiguate)
    • Page containing the Topic template
  • C++ version 2
    • Another C++ course

My proposal would be:

  • C++
    • Page containing the Topic template
  • C++ (collaborative version)
    • Default name for course
  • C++ from HSF
    • Another name of a course

I think that this new proposal greatly improves consistency, and might also lead to better SEO and internal referencing for when one is simply looking for a manual on a certain topic.

Note: it's also very easy to categorize all of the Topic pages: simply inserting Category:Topic in the template

What about hiding the name of the TOPIC from the page?

what do you mean?

Just not showing the name of the TOPIC at the top of the page, since sometimes we'll be forced to use not so good names since the proper ones had been taken

we would not need that. We would also need to move all the pages to adapt to the new terminology.

I want to stress the fact that we HAVE TO MOVE ALL THE PAGES to adapt to the new terminology, since names such as "Quantum Mechanics" had already been taken from a course but they are the right names for the TOPIC.

that doesn't look like a huge amount of work, but I'd like us to reach a consensum. What do you guys think?
