That's not too bad! Needs a bit of work, but I think it's a solid foundation. I'll hand this over to VDG's icon design pros now. :)
VDG: Did something come out of this? I know, "photo management" as a concept is hard to visualize. If you need input from me, please don't hesitate to ask ;-)
Both GThumb and Shotwell use the ‘stack of photos’ metaphor:

I think it works well and that it is better fit for a photo management application than a camera icon is.
