To contribute to the Kubuntu project, you will need a Launchpad account. To begin, create a "Ubuntu One" account, which is an OpenID-based single sign-on service operated by Canonical Ltd. to allow users to log onto many Canonical-owned Web sites.

1. Go to https://login.launchpad.net
2. Enter your account details. Please try to use a username close to your actual name as it helps people identify you later on
3. Follow the instructions to verify your email address
4. Use your newly created "Ubuntu Single Sign On (SSO)" to create your Launchpad account
