Create a script that will generate png's of effects using a source image to include them in the effects list
Or (maybe it's a crazy idea) we could also create some kind of colorful thumbnails containing the first Letter of the effect name, with color defined by a hash of effect name.
This would allow us to have almost unique color thumbs to make it easier to identify effects - like it is done in some email apps {F16753}
