We should consider removing this UI paradigm from our software.QML apps don't support the feature at all.
3rd-party apps don't support the feature at all.
QWidgets-based KDE apps only intermittently implement the feature, It's not supported on Wayland and on X11,mostly defeating the purpose; most of our apps don'targuably it's only useful when implement it at all ored for close to a degree that's actually useful100% of the UI elements. GenerallyWhen you click on the titlebar's question mark button to invoke it and find that many, out of the whole UImost, only one or two buttons will have "What's This?" text, which is not a useful user experience;r all of the UI elements you click on have no text, it's just frustrating and makes you wonder why so buggy a feature is still present.
I'd like to propose that we deprecate WhatsThis functionality, this is a feature that's really only useful if it'sthink about removing it from apps that implemented truly universallyt it, which it definitely is notand remove the WhatsThis titlebar button from the set of available Window Decoration buttons.
See also {D15307}. Let's figTo replace the feature out a path forward for removing this mostly-useless functionality. Instead(in the few apps that implement it), I think it would be better to focus on improving the the docbook documentation and the user interfaces themselves so they're as self-documenting as possible and have good tooltipswe can improve our software's tooltip text and explicit documentation in the docbook.
