Version 6
updated mockup based off IRC conversation on 12/22/2015.
We decided that seeing a lot of layers at one time was the most important thing when managing layers. To make this happen, we need to make all layer properties and options on one row. This comes with the compromise of making the layers docker wider. This was acceptable by everyone.
I separated the eye icon to the left because it is part of the requirements to have it separate than the other properties. Other programs also place the visibility property there.
There is only one view in the layer docker now with this design. The minimal, detailed, and thumbnail view options will not exist. Instead, there will be one view where people can configure how large they want the thumbnail size to be from the fly-out menu shown.
When space runs out, the layer name will be truncated and replaced with an ellipsis.
Turning off the visiblity of a layer will grey out the layer name, thumbnail, and layer type icon.
