More progress :D
May 20 2020
I worked a bit on updating the Drupal theme and pushed this https://invent.kde.org/carlschwan/relate-kde-org. This is WIP but before continuing working on it I would like to know under that license the original theme is licensed. I will also work on some minimal documentation on how to install it locally.
So I found there the current running system is located and got the civicrm and the theme installed:

Ping? is someone still maintaining relate.kde.org?

Thanks for information @aacid I don't have much free time nowadays but I could try to work on it next week. I will add you as reviewers then it's done :)
My thoughts is that both kde.org/donate.php and kde.org/donations (which are the same contents) were created on the totally unreviewed webpage "facelift" that Ken [and Harald] did back in 2017, they should just go away.
@aacid I'd like to hear your thoughts.

We are working for years now to get our current system to work properly. Before that is fixed that's a no from me for any fundamental additions tbh. Sorry.

Basically, gamify it. I think that's a good idea.
+1 but the donation part is the responsibility of the fundraising working group not of the website group and having awards is also a lot of extra work for us. On other news I working on a Blender fund website (it's all open source) for Krita.

CiviCRM has all this built-in. We just need to use it.

If we are doing an update of relate.kde.org it would be nice to use the same theme as in other new kde websites.
