I wasn't aware of the widget which is very interesting. I came to add that Feren OS Next is using Plasma and includes a theme tool that might also be worth taking a look at. It includes the ability to apply layouts as part of switching a theme. Also, MATE Tweak has a layout feature that provides packaged layouts that make changing them quite simple.

Nothing to add except that, as a regular user, I think the suggested changes to the dark theme are fantastic and those improvements will make it much more usable, particularly the text contrast which is one of the reasons I don't use the theme.

I apologize if this is the wrong place to add this comment but I have a laptop where this applies and would benefit me. I am happy to help test this if you find it helpful. Thanks.

I think having two at least makes the feature visible whereas right now it's essentially hidden unless a user knows what virtual desktops are and how to enable them. I'm not sure how many people use virtual desktops but for me it's one of the more useful productivity features, one that attracted me to Linux DEs before Windows had an equivalent feature.

I can only assume nobody has applied for this because they didn't know where to look?? I am a full-time Kubuntu user with a 20 year background in IT (systems administration, help desk, product management) and am trying to figure out how to get involved. I think QA testing, release review, documentation review or something of the like would make sense for me. I'm not sure what your needs are but I'm happy to discuss. Thank you.
I've noticed on KDE Neon, which I assume to be vanilla KDE, this is also true. I can't think of a reason to not have at least two desktops configured as default but I guess there is one? I'd like to second the suggestion for configuring at least two if not four desktops by default. I personally don't want them stacked vertically as I prefer a 2x2 grid but I would be fine with changing it if the default was something else. The rest of Michael's suggestion make sense but just adding the desktops is a good first step.
