The difficulty is that KTreeWidgetSearchLine::updateSearch does an exact match on the pattern it takes.

Would it be easier to re-structure Split Compare to work on a selected frame? Right now an effect must be applied to use Split Compare, but the result is fairly useful to determine how the change will look. The behavior could be changed if an effect is selected but not added to the clip. Instead we could take the current frame and provide that Split Compare.

Thanks for the feedback @mardelle. Can you clarify what you mean by listing them twice? When I run Kdenlive without the blacklisted_effects.txt file I do not notice a difference in the UI.
