Thanks @scottpetrovic - I'm glad that the topic of this polish translation is finally moving on ;)
@ikiw - Let me know in case you need some help with html or the translation itself. I can also check it out once you're ready.

@ikiw I - guess phabricator cannot send messages to people. I will just post this ZIP file here with the stuff to translate
@ikiw - Hey, sorry, somehow the notification when you messaged me got lost. I think the next step for the Polish translations is to translate a lot of the content.

Hi!
Łukasz Wojniłowicz told me that you can help me if I want to translate Krita's website.

For translating krita.org there are two parts.
- PO file that has the translations for the theme file
- WordPress HTML translations stored in a SQL database
I believe @tymond has done the first part and I have already uploaded that. For other languages, what we have been doing is that I give someone a bunch of HTML files. Then they translate the text and send them back to me. I copy and paste them into WordPress and enable the language?
Do you need all the HTML files?

@wojnilowicz - FYI tymond (tiar) is from Poland, so I thought she was going to be doing the translation for a lot of the page content. If she doesn't have time we will need someone else that can translate those sections.

@scottpetrovic krita.org still isn't available in Polish. An user appeared who volunteered to translate it, but it seems that it's already translated but not committed. What needs to be done next?
Dec 25 2020
An unrelated issue: I just noticed that the language selector does not show up when page width is somewhere between small and large.
Dec 19 2020
@tymond - For making a translation for posts and many pages, you first go to the english version in WordPress. When you are in the edit screen for a post/page, there is a bunch of country flags on the right. You press the edit button (pencil icon) next to the Poland flag and it should create a Polish version. The page will switch to a new polish page where you can edit and save that one. The reason it is done like that is the different langues are all linked together, so if someone tries to go to a language that doesn't exist...it falls back to the English version.
@scottpetrovic what is the process of translating posts? Just copy the content in Wordpress editor and make a new post with translated text? Or something else? (Are there .po files for posts?)
I also noticed that at the beginning of the document, there is a typo Kirta.org ("i" and "r" replaced), but I don't know if its safe to fix that.

What browser are you checking on. When I check it on Firefox on my computer, everything seems to line up fine.

Perhaps you need to learn to ask or suggest, instead of commanding.

For reference, this is how you talk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperative_mood , it's considered very rude in english.

For the point about Simple and Powerful 2D Animation, we could ask permission to use some of the works already published in youtube. I personally like this one.

The only thing I am planning on doing now is making the interface and animation images into some type of animated gif/video.

@woltherav - The question for me is should we be using non open formats and things like MP4 video files...or youtube for that matter. I am ok with doing whatever most people are doing/using, but not sure how hardcore we want to get with sticking to open formats/platforms.
Er, we do have a peertube account: https://share.tube/accounts/kritafoundation/videos
It looks like WebM also doesn't work in IE, which we still have quite few thousand people using that every month. Right now we just upload the videos right now to the website. We would have to make an account on peertube or something to put these type of one-off videos on if we want. I kind of don't want all these work-arounds and fallbacks just to get a video to play.
Note about animated gif:
I have been starting to make some changes to this page on the dev site for testing.

An overview of the full UI might be a bit too heavy for this page. Maybe what we can do is make the user interface section into its own area...and do a bit more describing what it is about. Then maybe link to the docs somewhere.
From the meeting notes today:
KonquiDragon has been creating some tasks for updating the website. He mentions that the highlights page could be better, but indicates he has no idea how to do the work.
- The highlights page is where people go to when they want to decide whether downloading Krita is a good idea. It needs to show the main features Krita has, and a few surprises.
- We could add the animation feature to the highlights page
- An overview of the full UI
- A video or gif that shows how easily the UI can be rearranged
- Links to the manual

Looks good to me!
I have updated the wireframes! I think I understood the points about the buttons and alignment, but I could have misread it.
May 3 2018
I'd like the buttons to be aligned as well. The other thing is "All download versions" -- does that lead to a page with versions for all os'es? Or should we have a button that switches the auto-detected OS?

Seems good to me
I do really like the new design! :)
@tysontan That would be cool for the thank you page! It doesn't have to be anything super fancy. Just something fun. No rush. It will take a little while before we agree on a page design and I can do all these coding changes.
I really like your vision here. This will be a huge step forward and very modern.
Hi Scott, I prefer your vision. It has a more modern looking layout and very functional. Mine was merely an idea of incremental work over the current layout. Shall we move the discussion to M125?
I added an alternate version that tries to help guide people better on what we suggest for the download. It puts some of the technical stuff behind a drop down like system requirements. I leaned heavily on some of the ways Blender is doing it.
Apr 4 2018
My impression is that we have a lot of text on this page. Based on downloads, 95% of the downloads people are downloading the installer versions for windows. I think we should downplay the other options a bit more. I think that will make it a lot more clear on what we are directing people to go with.
One thing that helps out with discussions is listing why this work is being done in the first place at the very top of a task. Designs are presenting a solution to a problem(s). But the problems aren't listed on this page, so it can make giving feedback more difficult for other people.

- post text is justified. It might make it a little cleaner now that we have angle stuff going on
As I said before, I think the page is ready to go, if any thing here it is "visually" what I was referring to, plus a couple of ideas that came to my mind as I see the page:
Oct 2 2016
I am not sure if these suggestions means removing everything except what you are outlining, or if we want to call those out more. In regards to the user testimonials, not only are they accurate, but I asked permission from each person to be able to use it on the site.
got it thanks. I will let this sit for a couple of days and see if there are any show stoppers left. I made a few tweaks after playing around with different languages. If we do other global changes in the future, I might see about getting the database to be updated in dev so it is closer to production. It is getting a bit out of sync and hard to test some things now that we have more languages.
Finished:
For volunteers, I had a feeling that was mostly going to happen with people dropping out. The fact that we have 'something' up right now in another language is better than having nothing. I am hoping as more Spanish people begin to use it, more translators will slowly surface. Thank you so much for everything you have done so far.
Home page PO file is ready for publishing
Oct 1 2016
Scott, I am going to check the po file either this evening or tomorrow, when are you planing to launch the new site? There is a few things I need to fix based on the feedback I got from the forums, unfortunately all my new volunteers kind of disappear for the time been, thus I will only manage to do the main page for now, and try to fix things once is the new site is running.
alright everything is updated. I got the inside banners working as well.
Sep 29 2016
I got a nice chunk of the site done. Here is what I have so far.
Sep 16 2016
I heard a couple comments that the promotional banner thing isn't working so well on the homepage. The concern was that it takes away a lot of the power of the main image. The banner will be on every other page and post, so we might not need it on the homepge. Most people don't just stay on the homepage, so it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal to leave it off of that page.

@woltherav maybe we can add a splash of pink in there.
It looks fine, but I do miss the pink a little. Making everything blue only makes it a bit too cool.
Sep 12 2016
I like it a lot! :)
I spent a little more time and made some prettier versions of the wireframes. I made some tweaks to existing text and created some new text. I still need to think about better ways to incorporate artwork in the inside pages, especially the high traffic pages like the history page. Those ideas might be coming a little later.
Sep 10 2016
Sep 9 2016
Based off those comments this was an idea I had to rearrange things. The top area has quite a bit of artwork, so maybe it is getting to be too much work to keep all of that updated. I am simplifying it to just have one hero image which will probably be the splash image for the application.
