At the top doesn't look great, aligned with the new mail button wasn't convincing either. At the bottom is better, but will have to share the space with the statusbar somehow.

We've decided to go without a help button. The rationale is: if you're using keyboard shortcuts (the only help we have right now), pressing "?" is not a problem.
Figuring out about it is, but that can be solved via an "introduction" log message, FAQ, ....
For everything else we really want to avoid maintaining any kind of help (and just attempt to make the UI intuitive enough).
Anyways, no per view help button for now.
