IRC suggestions

Scott has heard people doing custom things to the popup palette to get it customized to how they want it

  1. Removing the background grey circle that contains all the main controls
  2. Wanting to remove the entire group of buttons on the bottom
  3. Wanting to swap out buttons on the bottom for things they want more.

I think the first thing to do is to take all the logic in all these bugs and wishes and compile it together. We can then see what type of flexibility or features people are wanting from this .

Hey Scott, I agree with that and I've abandoned my other 'experimental' revision/discussion. Really sorry for the delay in joining you over here even though you added me almost a month ago! In my defense, I'm still very much a phabricator newbie and I get really lost among all the other KDE projects and stuff like that. Please bear with me. =]

While I think my previous solution may have some flaws (like discoverability), I have to say I'm still a believer in the general notion of bucking some desktop traditions when designing tablet interfaces, and I still think that a Popup Palette that makes full use of the limited inputs of the hardware is ideal. Having said that, I also realize that this is a team project and I'm willing to work with whatever the consensus is on the best path forward!

Aside from that, I also agree that something along the lines of the animation Timeline Docker's KisZoomButton would be a great improvement and a welcome replacement for the current zoom slider. I also have some ideas for how to improve the usability of that widget in both contexts, but maybe that's a different discussion altogether.

I'll start to review the bugs/wishes that you've linked here and we can start talking about other problems/ideas soon. Thanks for organizing this task.
