Going to another conversation and loading again fixed it. Maybe something with the unread state?

This is from the commit "highlight unread mails in conversation view"

This is actually highlighting of unread mails, but I don't think it works very well visually. I suppose it could work in that we "light up" what we've already seen, but it's the opposite of what we do in the maillist and therefore IMO confusing.

It is currently also not very useful anymore since we mark the whole conversation as read as soon as we open it.

I would suggest simply removing the feature for now.

Messages are now correctly marked as read. We'll keep the highlighting for now, even though you will rarely see it since we immediately mark as read.
