Remove flash dependency from kubuntu-restricted-addons?
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Ubuntu and other favours did this a while back

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-restricted-addons/+bug/1709166

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-restricted-addons/25

  • Drop Adobe Flash as it will be EOL before end of next LTS

I believe we did have some discussion of this at the time, and either said leave it, or did not make a firm decision.

Have added a launchpad bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-restricted-addons/+bug/1751752

I think it is appropriate to re-visit this discussion before be go to beta.

Flash will remain in the archive and be installable should one wish.

Unless it can be available from old or other repository, I prefer to keep it until its EOL, since though fewer and fewer, there are still some important sites unable to work without it. Such condition is still serious in Taiwan.

It will still be in the archive and installable. Just not installed by default as a dependency of the restricted addons package.

If so, then +1.
