Where is the best place to store GBs of assets?

Description

We are reaching a point in the promo team in which we will need to start sharing big files (video assets, sound files, RAW images, etc.) and need storage space to share them from.

We have used share.kde.org up until now, but this is probably ideal.

What would the best solution for this be?

In general it depends on if this is going to be publicly accessible or not, and how often you are going to want to change these files.

If these are public resources, intended to be linked from our main websites and are something that won't change often and are essentially final versions, then I would suggest we use files.kde.org for this. It is in essence a Content Distribution Network and is intended for end-users to download files.

If this is something which is just being used to collaborate, then share.kde.org is probably the best thing we have at the moment. Working on large size files over the internet does tend to be something which is fairly difficult to do unfortunately.

Thanks for the answer. This would be for collaboration mainly, so is it okay to upload stuff that big to share? Will this not be headache for you? I mean, if it is, I am happy with good old FTP.

From my understanding of the Nextcloud documentation it is designed to handle multi gigabyte size files, so it shouldn't be an issue.
It might become a problem if you start storing more than 50GB or so of data there, as we'll probably have to shift share.kde.org to a different server.

If you think that's likely we can make those arrangements without too much issue though.
